When looking at how technology can help assist pupils with SEND, I have visited the following website: http://planetpda.net/blog/using-ict-to-support-pupils-with-send/
Supporting pupils with speech and communication
One of the ways in which pupils can be supported with language and communication is through the use of Picture Communication Symbols (PCS). Boardmaker is a picture based software that helps support pupils by using creating symbols adapted to curriculum materials for students – regardless of their abilities. They can be used to create communication, make schedules and calendars.
Supporting children with physical difficulties
I have looked at Pick & Mix 5 to gain knowledge and understanding on how to support pupils with SEND. Assistive technology can help support pupils with physical difficulties by giving them the confidence they need to participate in the same activities as other pupils. It also reduces their reliance on members of staff, by giving them an adapted keyboard or a touch-screen computer. Switch, visualizers or a lower case keyboard can also support pupils with physical difficulties.
